Tips for bands setup

Different ways to setup elastic bands:

Comme vous le savez, plus une bande élastique est étirée plus la résistance qu'elle peut fournir est grande (voir notre dossier sur la résistance élastique). Dans la plupart des exercices, il est ainsi très simple de s'écarter du point d'attache pour augmenter la résistance de l'exercice.

However, in traditionnal exercises (bench press, squat, deadlift, etc.), the range of motion is limited by the exercise itself. So how can you make the resistance of the band to vary to suit your needs ?

Here are some answers :

Basic setup

This type of loop is very useful when you can not use the basic setup because you simply can not pass the band, for example on a pull-up bar.

During exercises where the range of motion is reduced (deadlift, movement of load on machine, etc.), it is possible to bend your elastic band in 2, thus doubling the tension.

Wrapped band

Very simple and very effective, this tip allows to modify the resistance provided by an elastic band with a little more finesse. The more you turn on the bar, the more tension will increase. This system works very well on the exercises of bench press and squat for example.

For example, making a bar turn of 28mm and 50mm diameter reduces the initial length of the strip by about 6cm and 10cm, respectively.

This tip is valid for all exercises on machine and exercises at bodyweight. Just take the elastic band and realize a simple knot in the middle.

With an elastic band S, for example, making a knot reduces the initial length of the band by about 15 cm.
